Cops catch online gambling suspect
A MAN listed as a suspect in an online soccer gambling case has been caught during roadside checks for drunk drivers over the weekend thanks to a small portable gadget, police said yesterday.
The suspect, Zheng Bin, was found driving under the influence of alcohol, police said.
Zheng was stopped at a checkpoint set up at a ramp for an elevated road in Jing'an District about 11:22pm on Saturday.
When checking Zheng's identification card, officer Chen Dong found the man was wanted for online gambling. The officer used a personal digital assistant to check Zheng's ID.
Zheng was held for further investigation and the vehicle was impounded, police said. "We carry a PDA every time we are on patrol," Chen said.
