ABOUT 79 percent of China's wetlands are poorly protected and their total coverage is shrinking, according to a survey released yesterday, World Wetlands Day. Wetlands have shrunk by 8,000 sq km over the past 30 years, said the survey released by an institute under the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
