Crowds queue for Expo show

VISITORS began queuing six hours before the doors opened yesterday for the official opening of an exhibition about the World Expo 2010.

By 9am, long queues had formed at the checkpoints for the retrospective show at the former Urban Footprint Pavilion in Puxi, but these moved quickly once the doors opened at 12pm.

Local Expo enthusiast Xue Jinfang arrived at the entrance at 5:45am.

"I visited the Expo 2010 more than 20 times and wanted to relive the experience at the retrospective exhibition," she said.

More than 1,500 people visited the exhibition in half a day yesterday, fewer than predicted by the operator.

"We had fewer visitors because it was the first day but we believe it will be very popular," said an official.
