Cruise ship plans to offer more routes from Shanghai

The luxury cruise liner Sapphire Princess plans to increase its passenger volume from its homeport in Shanghai by 20 percent this year.

The cruise ship that made the Wusongkou port in Baoshan its homeport in 2014 will open 28 routes, mainly to Japan and South Korea, this year, said Wang Ping, general manager of the cruise line company in China.

The number of routes will be increased to 50 next year, Wang said.

The 115,000-ton Sapphire Princess set sail on its maiden voyage from Wusongkou Port in May 2014.
