DVD pirates jailed

THREE people were convicted of dealing over 127,000 pirated discs and got sentences of nine months to 18 months yesterday in Pudong New Area People's Court. The trio were also fined 45,000 yuan (US$7,134) each. Convicted were Xu Ruilin, 50, his wife Sheng Yuyan, 35, and Hua Xinyan, who ran her own business. Police seized 59,000 discs from the couple and 68,000 discs from Hua.
