Dazhong Taxi launches own booking app
SHANGHAI Dazhong Taxi Co introduced its own cab booking application for smartphone users today to compete with third party apps.
It operates similar to the popular third party apps like Didi and Kuaidi Taxi, although app users will get a Dazhong cab and have to pay a 4 yuan (64 US cents) dispatch fee since all orders go through the company's dispatch center.
"Users of this app can avoid the risk of getting an illegal taxi. We want to attract passengers with our good service," said Chen Duojia, director of the company's dispatch center.
Chen said the app would help passengers who find it hard to reach the dispatch center during busy periods.
"We usually have 20 staff members working at the dispatch center at the same time, which isn't enough to handle all calls. The app is like a self-supported dispatch tool," Chen said.
Passengers don't have to give a destination when using the app, which will prevent cabbies from neglecting callers who only want to go a short distance.
The company said it would continue developing a user-friendly interface and enable users who don't read Chinese to use the app with the help of icons and pictures.
Dazhong has around 10,000 cabs operating in the city.
