Delta rail traffic on the way up
Rail traffic in the Yangtze River Delta region continues to climb, with passengers making more than 46 million train trips in the region in July, an increase of 18.5 percent compared with June, China Railway Shanghai Group announced yesterday.
More than 38 million were short-distance trips, the group said.
Summer is traditionally a peak season for travel and the number of rail trips in July were 68 percent of last year鈥檚 July figure.
The resumption of work and the revival of the tourism market had boosted rail traffic in the region, the group said.
Inter-provincial group tours halted across the country by the novel coronavirus outbreak resumed on July 14, and 16 trains carrying more than 5,400 tourists had operated in the Delta region since then, it revealed.
