Deportees recaptured in Shanghai
TWO foreigners deported from China for using counterfeit money in 2007 have been caught again in Shanghai for overstaying their visas.
The two men from an unnamed Middle Eastern country were detained for holding and using fake money in September 2007. After being deported, they changed their names and birth dates in their home country and got new passports.
They returned to China in February with the new passports and began a clothing business in Guangzhou, Guangdong Province. After the business failed, they moved to Shanghai but overstayed their visa by 200 days.
Police said counterfeit money was found in their possession. One was deported and the other is still under investigation.
