Designs sought for post-Expo use of Baosteel Stage

THE WORLD Expo 2010 organizer today began soliciting ideas worldwide for the future use of the Baosteel Stage, a factory-turned stage in the Expo Park by the Huangpu River.
The 11,200-square-meter stage, formerly the building of a steel plant, showed about 1,000 performances by art troupes from Chinese provinces and municipalities during the Expo from last May to last October. It has 3,500 seats.
The stage joins the China Pavilion, Expo Center, Expo Culture Center, Expo Boulevard, Theme Pavilion and a few popular foreign pavilions as the permanent structures in the Expo Park. Other Expo buildings have been demolished.
The stage will be turned into an iconic venue for fashion and cultural events to attract people to the Expo Park, an official with the Shanghai Expo Development Group said today.
Institutions and organizations around the world who have experiences organizing fashion shows, brand promotions, weddings and film premieres can submit their designs for the post-Expo use of the stage for bidding, the official said.
