'Dirty' gasoline causes vehicles to break down
MORE than 10 vehicles broke down yesterday after filling their tanks with "dirty" gasoline at a petrol station in Minhang District.
The station promised to pay for all repairs and temporarily closed the filling channel.
The station said there were two likely causes for the problem. Dirty fuel was delivered to the station, or the petrol tank had leaks.
The incident happened at a petrol station near the intersection of Qixin Road and Li'an Road yesterday soon after a tanker truck transported fuel to the station about 6am.
Station workers said that vehicles that fueled up broke down after running less than 100 meters from the station.
Drivers suspected the petrol had been filled with water and workers closed the problematic channel about 7am.
Workers checked the tank and found a lot of water and filth in it. They pumped out the water and cleaned the tank yesterday.
More than 10 vehicles were towed to a nearby garage for repairs.
