Discount cards on offer for Expo

SHANGHAI'S tourism authority will give out the first batch of cards this Saturday offering discounts of up to 40 percent off at appointed hotels, restaurants and scenic spots during the World Expo from May through October.

Altogether 10,000 cards will be offered free at the opening ceremony of the 14th Suzhou City Taihu Lake Plum Flower Festival, today's Laodong Daily reported.

The festival will close on March 25. During the festival, Shanghai Tourism Center will launch two tourist bus routes for local people to appreciate plum flowers around Taihu Lake.

Meanwhile, Jinting, an ancient village in Suzhou, will be crowned as a sample tourist resort for the Expo, one of 96 across the Yangtze River Delta area.
