Disney pledges to replenish LinaBell
Shanghai Disney Resort has denied hunger marketing and said it will continue to replenish the regular products, including the Original LinaBell Plush, with increased stock in the coming months after controversy over its latest toyline.
“Shanghai Disney Resort has been in close communication with relevant government departments to develop and optimize the sales plan,” the resort said in a statement sent to Shanghai Daily yesterday.
It added: “The huge demand and pandemic have been the major factors for the limited inventory at this time.”
Following her September debut, LinaBell, a pink fox friend of Duffy, quickly became the resort’s top star. However, soon afterward, she was in dire straits. Rumors had it that the resort had turned a blind eye to scalpers clearing out LinaBell merchandise from shelves.
Then on Sunday night, the resort opened online reservations for “Original LinaBell Plush,” the “2021 Christmas LinaBell Plush,” and the “2021 Christmas LinaBell Plush Keychain.” Only people with advanced reservations could buy them. But panic buying caused a network breakdown, frustrating many fans.
