Docks for 20,000 boats along Bund

SHANGHAI plans to build 11 yacht piers providing berths for 20,000 boats along the Bund, responding to China's growing yacht market, today's Oriental Morning Post.

By the end of last year, there were 364 boat-building companies across the country, the newspaper said, citing China's Association of the National Shipbuilding Industry.

Meanwhile, the China (Shanghai) International Boat Show will be staged next Thursday in Shanghai, Asia's biggest gala for shipbuilders, the report said.

It will feature 200 boats, including two yachts from France each valued over 6 million yuan (US$879,018), according to organizers.

Other exhibits will come from the globe's renowned yacht builders including Ferretti, Azimut-Benetti and Beneteau as well as Chinese makers.
