Dog bites girl, owner pays fine
A MAN whose pet dog injured a 7-year-old girl was ordered to pay 10,075 yuan (US$1,400) in compensation by a Shanghai court yesterday.
The girl鈥檚 mother, who was with the girl when the incident happened, was ruled to be 50 percent responsible.
In the October 2017 incident, the girl touched an Alaskan Malamute in the street and was bitten in the face, according to Xuhui District People鈥檚 Court. The dog was not wearing a muzzle, as stipulated by Shanghai鈥檚 pet rules, the court said.
The girl鈥檚 mother, surnamed Qian, sued the owner of the dog, a man surnamed Hu. Qian had been seeking 30,000 yuan while Hu had said Qian was 70 percent to blame as she should have prevented her daughter from approaching the dog.
