Donations of stem cells to save lives
Two young people donated stem cells yesterday to save leukemia patients.
Wu Junxiang, 24, a student at Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine, said it was the best gift for his upcoming graduation and his future career as a doctor.
Wu joined the city’s bone marrow donor bank in 2014. He matched a patient in 2017 and agreed to give a donation immediately.
However, the procedure was unsuccessful due to the patient’s condition.
“When I was informed about the second match, I felt so lucky and agreed to make the donation without hesitation,” he said.
Another donor, Wang Zhijun, 29, is a soldier who joined the donor bank in 2012.
