Downtown building fire quenched, no one hurt

A fire broke out this morning in an old residential building in downtown Huangpu District, forcing residents to evacuate immediately. No casualties have been reported so far, xinmin.cn said.
The building on Liyuan Road, near Nan Chezhan Road, caught fire at about 10:45am. A witness said he saw smoke and flames coming from a dormer window on the roof of the building and people inside began to rush out.
The fire was soon put out by fire fighters and no casualties were reported.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation but the residents said it might be triggered by burning candles and joss sticks in one of the apartments.
