Drug seizures up

SHANGHAI customs officials said they seized various drugs weighing 62.28 kilograms in 36 drug smuggling cases this year as of yesterday, up 6.8 percent and 28.5 percent from 2011. "The number of cross-border drug smuggling cases still stayed high this year. Drug dealers also changed their way of hiding drugs from tourist luggage to express deliveries," said Huang Shanshan, a local customs official. Nearly 90 percent of drug smuggling cases were found in express deliveries.
