Drunk man drives to police station to complain about car purchase

A DRUNK man who drove to a police station to complain to officers about buying a car has been sentenced to two months behind bars and fined 2,000 yuan (US$326) for dangerous driving, a local court ruled recently.
The man, identified only by his surname, Wang, said his cousin bought a car on impulse but was now reluctant to sell it since its value had depreciated as a used vehicle.
Wang had gotten drunk while having a meal at a roadside stall in the wee hours of May 6. As his cousin, who was also drinking, complained about how he regretted about the car purchase, Wang suggested they contact police for help since "police always help people get out of trouble."
So the pair started the car and took turns driving to a police station in Qingpu District.
Police said they reeked of alcohol when they arrived. Blood alcohol tests showed they had broken the road safety rules, police said.
The Qingpu District People's Court has recently sentenced Wang but had yet to deal with Wang's cousin, who also was charged with dangerous driving.
