A MAN has been charged with poaching 14 mandarin ducks in the Pudong New Area, prosecutors said yesterday. Last October year, the man, surnamed Chen, took equipment to the Dishui Lake, and caught 14 ducks. He was detained the next day. Chen said he did not know they were a protected species. Prosecutors said, if guilty, Chen may be sentenced to 10 years in jail and could be fined. The ducks have been freed.
