Supported by Dafeng Government and Xinmin Evening News, the week-long festival will include an international beer and food festival, performances and sporting events in the port city.
The opening ceremony will highlight water sports presented by the National Motor Boat Team and Water Skiing Team. Well-known Chinese film director Chen Kaige and his actress wife Chen Hong will also show up on the first day of the festival.
Dafeng, about two hours' drive north of Shanghai, has a national natural reserve for more than 2,000 heads of David's Deer, a rare deer species that went extinct in China before it was re-introduced to native land in 1985. The deer attracted more than 1 million visitors last year.
