Elderly woman faints after fire breaks out in her apartment

A FIRE broke out at an apartment on Guanshengyuan Road in Xuhui District on Thursday morning, trapping an 81-year-old woman who fainted, the city's fire department said.

The firefighters broke into the apartment and gave the woman emergency treatment by clearing residue of smoke in her mouth and nose. She was rushed to hospital later.

She was rushed to Ruijin hospital and is said to be recovering.
