Electric bikes' safety hazards

MANY electric bicycles sold in Shanghai have hidden safety hazards, local watchdogs said yesterday.
The Shanghai Industrial and Commercial Administrative Bureau said that in a recent inspection, it found 47 brands had quality problems. More than half of the unqualified bicycles were found to have excessive speed capabilities, and many exceeded the weight limit.
