Etiquette to be taught through performances
PERFORMANCES detailing elevator etiquette will be seen on Nanjing Road in May, Huangpu District government officials said yesterday.
The performances aim to promote good manners when taking elevators in the run up to the 2010 Shanghai Expo.
Despite how common elevators and escalators are in apartment buildings, offices and stores, some basic manners - such as standing right and walking left or letting people exit before you try to enter an elevator - are ignored by many.
Organizers are looking for about 20 volunteers to act in the performances. Volunteers will also write the scripts.
Some people have already applied and organizers said a basic audition will be held to assess applicants.
