A FORMER officer in charge of road construction in suburban Jinshan District was sentenced to six and a half years in prison yesterday for taking 254,000 yuan (US$39,137) in bribes.
Tao Guoqiang, 55, admitted to taking bribes but argued that 50,000 yuan of the bribe money had been borrowed by him for apartment decoration.
