Expo Supplier Sent To Jail
AN Expo materials supplier was jailed for two years yesterday for selling more than 600,000 yuan (US$87,877) worth of fake steel pipes to an Expo construction company.
Tan Tian, 33, general manager of Shanghai Changzheng Materials Co Ltd, was also fined 100,000 yuan and the company fined 180,000 yuan at Pudong New Area People's Court.
Tan pleaded guilty and told the court he would compensate the company for its loss.
Changzheng signed a letter of intent with Shanghai Installation Engineering Co Ltd in July 2008 to supply steel pipes.
Tan sold eight types of fake Jinzhou-brand galvanized steel pipes at about 1,000 yuan less per ton than the genuine Jinzhou brand to the engineering company.
