Expo online pages go 3D
THREE-DIMENSIONAL techniques being highlighted by many World Expo pavilions have been applied in several instances to the Expo Online Website - www.expo.cn.
On the Expo Online page of the France Pavilion, viewers can "enter" the scenes of six precious paintings - the treasure exhibits of the pavilion - and "stand" among the figures in the paintings.
On the page for the Jilin Pavilion, a snowman will suddenly throw a snowball to the screen, making viewers involuntarily dodge.
People can visit as if they were walking through the real pavilions. The experience will be very similar to the reality and visitors do not need to wear glasses as they do for a 3D movie in cinemas, said Wang Liping, deputy director of the Expo bureau's Communication and Promotion Department.
The 3D effects have been applied to the Expo Online pages of France and Belgium pavilions, the Vanke Pavilion and some Chinese provincial pavilions including Shandong, Guizhou and Jilin pavilions.
Viewers do not need to download large software nor have large system requirements on their computers, said Zhang Zhanjun, brand manager of the Dassault Systemes, a French 3D maker for the Expo Online.
The Expo bureau wanted to put more movies in 3D, especially those from popular pavilions such as the Saudi Arabia and Spain pavilions, but that needed the agreement of these pavilions, Wang told Shanghai Daily.
