Expo passport prices fall

THE decision by some pavilions to stop issuing stamps in souvenir Expo passports has hit small traders.

People selling passports with stamps from more than 40 national pavilions have lowered their price from 750 yuan (US$110) at the beginning of May to 280 yuan on Taobao.com, one of China's biggest online trading platforms.

The price is falling as many customers complain on the Website that some stamps are missing from their collections, including Norway, Denmark and Sweden pavilions.

The three pavilions decided to quit stamping services on Tuesday because they could no longer endure some Expo visitors' behavior.

Some passport sellers have promised to collect more stamps from smaller pavilions, or offering bigger discounts, faster delivery and extra gifts.

Meanwhile, other passport sellers are exploring new ways to further develop their business. Many of them are carrying out long-term projects to collect all the 300-plus stamps at the World Expo site.

According to some sellers, they have already received orders from customers all over the world, with some offering up to 9,000 yuan.
