Expo workers offered to work for SOEs
OVER 20,000 job seekers, mostly the World Expo workers and volunteers, applied for about 1,300 job offerings from the state-owned companies represented at the Shanghai Corporate Pavilion during the 6-month World Expo.
The pavilion said today the application deadline is due on Monday. The 36 state-owned companies that jointly built the pavilion offered 1,296 positions involving various jobs at different levels. They made the offer in appreciation of the Expo workers and volunteers for their contributions to the World Expo 2010.
For some job offerings, there have been nearly 100 people competing for one position, said Jiang Qianqian, an official with the recruitment program.
The companies began selecting candidates on November 4. Some have held the first round of interviews.
The final candidates for the 10 high-level postions, including financial manager and department chiefs, will have to compete on TV talent shows that will be broadcasted by the end of the month.
The 4,000-square-meter Shanghai Corporate Pavilion, nicknamed the DreamCube taking the theme of "My City, Our Dream" is made from environmentally friendly recyclable materials. Intelligent robots greeted visitors and can cook Chinese food for guests.
