Falling container kills car driver in Pudong

A container fell from a truck and landed on top of a car early yesterday morning at a crossroad in Pudong District, killing the car driver instantly.
Police detained the truck driver and are investigating the cause of the accident, local media reported.
The accident happened around 5:20am at the intersection of Linhai Highway and Shangnan Road when the two vehicles were driving in opposite directions. The container got loose and toppled on to the car.
The tragic scene shocked passers-by who called the police immediately.
The car driver surnamed Zhang was pronounced dead after police, firefighters and medics arrived.
