Family murder suspect arrested

A MAN wanted for the murder of his 25-year-old girlfriend and her parents in Xuhui District has been arrested by police.
The three were found dead by an uncle, surnamed Wu, who had flown back from Japan because he could not contact the family. Wu found the bodies of the parents in a rented house and the body of the girl in a nearby home they used to live in, the Oriental Morning Post reported today.
Police found the locks of both houses had not been damaged and the girl's boyfriend was arrested early on Sunday after a 16-hour hunt.
The girl and her parents sold their former home and moved to the rented house on March 28. A security guard said the boyfriend helped them move.
Neighbors told a security guard that there had been no sign of life for days but even though no one answered the doorbell the bodies were not discovered until the uncle arrived.
The killings were the result of a domestic dispute, according to a neighborhood committee notice. But another source said the boyfriend had killed the family to take the money they had made from selling the old home to pay soccer gambling debts.
