Fast access changes
BABIES in prams and pregnant women won't be able to use the green channels at some pavilions because officials don't want to encourage children under three or pregnant women to be on the Expo site in hot weather, a senior organizer said yesterday.
New rules stipulate that only people over 75 and physically disabled people can get fast access to pavilions and only one person can accompany them.
The new rules were agreed by most participants, but each pavilion will be able to relax them if necessary, said Xu Zuhua, deputy director of Expo's Visitor Service Center. Some countries, including Australia, Russia, the United Kingdom and Italy, will still allow babies in prams and pregnant women to use green channels.
Xu said the new rules were made according to those of previous Expos that stipulated that only senior visitors and the physically challenged could gain fast access to pavilions.
