Film, TV synergy in Delta gets a big boost
Cooperation over film and television productions will be enhanced in the Yangtze River Delta region, officials said at the ongoing 22nd Shanghai International Film Festival.
Major film and TV production bases in the region announced plans to set up a complete cooperative mechanism to boost prosperity of the culture and tourism industries in the region.
According to Yu Zhiqing, director of the Shanghai Film and Television Production Services Institution, the region is rich in location and production resources.
The varied bases will collaborate to provide film crews from home and abroad with a wide range of services as well as information about filmmaking policies. The services will cover location coordination, camera and props rental and post-production.
There are currently more than 30 film and TV production bases in the region. They have been locations for many well-known Chinese films and TV dramas, including 鈥淟ust, Caution,鈥 鈥淪acrifice鈥 and 鈥淭he Legend of Zhen Huan.鈥
Many foreign crews have also been shooting their productions in China. Bearing in mind the relatively high cost of filmmaking in large cities like Shanghai, some film and TV projects may be recommended to shoot in neighboring provinces in the region. Insiders believe the integral cooperation will largely help to propel cultural exchanges and boost local tourism.
