Final caterers sign on to feed the masses
VISITORS to the Shanghai 2010 World Expo will be no more than a five-minute walk from food at any given time at the site.
The Expo organizer made this announcement yesterday as the last batch of restaurants and food and drink producers from around the world - including Pizza Hut, Papa John's and Asahi Beer - signed catering contracts.
More than 100 outlets have signed on the dotted line and will serve people at 40 designated areas.
The 5.28-square-kilometer Expo site will have a total of 85,000 square meters of catering area. They can provide more than 200,000 Chinese and Western meals every day and another 100,000 types of snacks.
More than 400,000 visitors are expected at the Expo site every day.
Shanghai education authorities announced yesterday that city students would be organized into groups to visit the Expo site.
Only students above Year 3 will be included in visiting groups for safety reasons.
Education officials are also considering a plan that will enable students from city vocational schools and private colleges to help with ticket-selling for the Expo.
