Finland promises tranquil journey
STAFF members with the Finland Pavilion are inviting visitors to embark on a tranquil journey to explore the country's illustration on a better life and its approach towards a well-balanced and sustainable future.
Mauri Pekkarinen, Finnish Minister of Economic Affairs, yesterday unveiled a stone in front of the pavilion, which is inscribed with Chinese characters "Fen" (芬) and "Lan" (兰) (Finland), symbolizing the official opening of the pavilion.
The journey is a sonic experience. Soft and soothing tunes create a quiet space far away from the hustle and bustle of cities.
The exhibit area is divided into three sections.
At the welcoming area, some key essences of Finland will be featured. Virtual guides will welcome guests.
The second area opens with beautiful views. Thousands of photos will be shown on a large screen, displaying landscape of Finish cities and people's life.
Daily necessities of Finnish families, sports kits and textiles are exhibited, which reflect Finnish inspiration and innovation. Exhibits include a chair made of paper and wood used for sauna. Most exhibits are recyclable.
A huge electronic interactive wall consisting of 204 Nokia mobile phones is featured, through which visitors can take their photos and surprisingly see them shown in a large screen in the next part "City of Dreams."
The third area demonstrates Finns' understanding of a better life. Visitors will see the scenes of fishing and cycling on a large screen.
Finnish cuisines such as fresh and tasty fishes will be offered at the pavilion's restaurant.
