Firemen smash car window to free baby

A careless couple left their five-month-old baby in a car and forgot to take the key. The baby accidentally pressed the door lock and shut himself inside. As the baby began to cry, the couple milled around helplessly. This scene occurred on Wednesday in Minhang District.
The mother also cried and put her face to the window to try to calm her baby. Some witnesses called the police and firemen as well. Soon, the firemen showed up and smashed one window to unlock the car doors, the Xinmin Evening News reported.
The firemen said they received several reports recently of similar accidents in which babies were locked inside the car. They reminded car drivers to take out the car key when leaving the car and call 119 for help if a baby is accidently locked in the car.
