Firm fined for Viagra ads
A PHARMACY company in Shanghai has been fined 700,000 yuan (US$99,413) for illegal advertising in a live streaming, the Shanghai market watchdog said yesterday. China Nepstar hosted a live streaming recently to promote the effects of sexual dysfunction drug Viagra, a prescription drug, the Shanghai Administration for Market Regulation said. Themed on “night passion,” the ad contained content designed to tempt men. A discounted sales promotion was held during the live streaming, which had about 150,000 viewers. Advertising laws ban prescription drug advertisements on the Internet that are against good social custom. Prescription drugs can only be advertised in approved medical science and pharmacy publications.
