Flights to hurricane-hit US gradually resume

UNITED States-bound flights, canceled over the weekend in fears of hurricane Irene, gradually resumed today at city airports.

Most of the resuming flights were headed for the American East Coast where the hurricane raged over the weekend.

They include United Airlines and Continental Airlines flights to the busy air traffic hubs of Newark and John F. Kennedy airports.

Flights from Shanghai Pudong International Airport to the two American airports were canceled for two days.

However, some flights to other US cities like Chicago reported continued to be delayed today.
