Flowers make Jinshan a tourist destination

JINSHAN is blooming with flowers, nearly 100 kinds of them, from late March to early May and it is time for the district to host the flower festival for people from downtown to enjoy scented air and blend in with nature.
This year's festival features a series of activities, such as a local snack promotion, a photo contest, and the display of eight new orchid species developed by botanists in Shanghai and Zhejiang and Jiangsu provinces.
Visitors can check different flower watching schedules on Jinshan Tourism Bureau website (www.jsly.gov.cn), where flower information is updated every day.
The district has 1,667 hectares of rape flowers, not including those scattered around farmers' houses or along the roads and river banks. It also has more than 200 hectares of pear trees, 1,000 hectares of peach trees, 2,667 hectares of milk vetch, and patches of golden cauliflower.
