Forced kiss gang guilty of beating
A MAN forcibly kissed a woman in a downtown bar and then - helped by friends - beat up her angry boyfriend, after luring him to a rendezvous to "sort things out."
Zhu Junyu, 20, and accomplices Ren Jianguo, also 20, and Chen Junda, 22, yesterday pleaded guilty at the Huangpu District People's Court to the charge of intentional injury.
The court heard that Zhu kissed a woman at around 3am on May 7 in One Pub on Huaihai Road and was slapped on the face by her enraged boyfriend, surnamed Xu.
Zhu asked Xu to meet him again an hour later at Yunnan Road to settle the matter - in the meantime calling for back-up from Ren and Chen.
When Xu showed up, Zhu slapped him on the face. As the pair began fighting, Ren and Chen joined the attack, the court heard.
Xu was repeatedly punched and kicked and suffered severe injuries, including a collapsed lung and internal bleeding. He has since recovered.
Having pleaded guilty, the three attackers asked the court to be lenient.
"I regret what happened," Zhu said. "I hope the court will recognize that I am still very young and give me another chance."
The men were detained on May 8.
Sentences for the trio were not announced yesterday.
