Foreigner saves woman from drowning in Huangpu River

A FOREIGN man rescued a woman from drowning after she fell into city's Huangpu River on Monday afternoon, Xinmin Evening News reported today.

The foreigner jumped into the river without taking his clothes and shoes off when he saw the woman's sudden fall from the sight-seeing platform of the Bund, the report said, quoting a witness.

He pulled the woman out of water, but could not reach the platform, which is elevated above the river, said the report.

Staff of the Bund came immediately for help, using ropes to get them out. The woman was sent to a hospital for examination.
