Former notary jailed for soliciting bribes


A FORMER notary in Shanghai has been jailed for 12 years for demanding 478,000 yuan (US$70,033) in bribes, today's Xinmin.cn reported.

Jiang Guoguang, 48, former vice dean of Baoshan District Notary Office and vice chairman of Shanghai Notary's Association, had asked for the bribes from a subcontractor doing a decoration project for his office, the report said.

Shanghai Justice Bureau has also scrapped Jiang's notary's license, the report said. He had worked as a notary for more than 20 years.
