Free WiFi in Lujiazui

FREE WiFi service is now available in Shanghai's Lujiazui area, which launched the "wireless financial city" program on Friday.

The wireless network covers all public places in a 1.7-square-kilometer area, including the southern riverfront area, bus stations and the public halls of 30 office buildings such as Shanghai World Financial Center and Shanghai International Finance Center.

Super Brand Mall will be included in the program as Lujiazui plans to expand wireless coverage next year.

Internet users can search for the CMCC-LJZ signal via cell phone, laptop or tablet computer. A password is not necessary to access the web.

A total of 90 WiFi hotspots will be set up in the area - about 70 percent are now ready. The WiFi service is designed to improve services for office workers to help bolster the city into an economic hub. Employees can get real-time financial news and information via WiFi.

Tourists can get information about restaurants, scenic spots and more.
