Fresh ticket policy for pavilion
AROUND 35,000 people visited the China Pavilion on Saturday and Sunday, the first weekend since it reopened.
Some of the visitors had to wait for up to three hours to get in.
As a result of the huge crowds visiting the pavilion, tickets to the pavilion will have a specific date and time on them from today.
The World Expo organizer yesterday changed ticket policy in response to overcrowding and long queues to enter the pavilion.
People can buy tickets from 1pm to 4pm a day in advance of attending or from 8am to 1pm on the day.
Each person is limited to a maximum of five tickets.
Any tickets already sold before the new ticket system can still be used on any day from now until the end of May.
The new policy aims to reduce waiting time and create a more comfortable environment inside the pavilion, which has a capacity of about 30,000 people a day, officials at the pavilion said.
The pavilion will stay open past its scheduled closing time of 5pm if the number of people waiting to gain entry requires it, especially on weekends and on national and school holidays, said Qian Zhiguang, deputy director of the pavilion.
