PUDONG New Area police yesterday cracked a gang of 10 thieves who had pretended to work for a transport company.
In one case, a victim surnamed Zhou called the gang to help him move house, attracted by their discount prices of 68 yuan (US$9.94) advertised on a flier left in his mailbox. However, the gang asked him to pay 6,500 yuan when the work was done. When he refused they beat him up and stole 500 yuan.
