Get ready for winds, showers and heat

Shanghai is likely to feel the effects of tropical storm Danas over the next few days with increasing winds and showers, forecasters said.

The weather bureau said the city is now at the edge of an area of subtropical high pressure which will bring higher temperatures, clouds and scattered showers.

Danas divided into two systems after its western periphery passed the Philippines, a rare occurrence. The storm’s center is weak but the convective cloud clusters on its two sides are stronger.

At 5:30pm, Danas had a radius of 200 to 300 kilometers and was 400 kilometers southeast of Taiwan’s southernmost tip of Eluanbi. It was moving north at 30 kilometers per hour, the National Meteorological Center said. It may land in the coastal areas of Fujian Province or Taiwan between tomorrow night and Saturday morning.

Temperatures in Shanghai between today and Sunday will range from 26 to 34 degrees Celsius.
