Girlfriend killer is sentenced to death

A MAN who murdered one girlfriend and attacked another was sentenced to death yesterday for killing a third.
The sentence was passed down to Lin Xiafu, 55, at the Shanghai No.2 Intermediate People's Court.
Lin handed himself in to Huangpu District police on August 11 last year, confessing to killing his girlfriend, surnamed Wang, in his apartment on Kuaiji Road.
The pair moved in together in May 2009, enjoying a good relationship until Lin found out in January 2010 that Wang was having an affair, the court heard.
Lin said Wang was always asking him for money and that they had a big argument on August 8 when Wang let slip that she visited Yellow Mountain in Anhui Province with another man and his daughter and spent 3,000 yuan (US$472) Lin had given her.
During the row, Lin asked Wang to return 10,000 yuan he had lent her to invest in her brother's restaurant but she refused.
Enraged, Lin strangled Wang and left her body on a bed for two days before turning himself in.
Lin pleaded guilty and was convicted for the third time of murdering or attacking a lover.
In 1983, Lin was sentenced to death with two years' probation for killing a girlfriend. He was released in 1987 for medical treatment.
In 1995, he was jailed for attacking another girlfriend and given a 16-year sentence, including time for his previous offense.
