Hallucinating man falsely claims to have bomb at railway station
A man reported he had a bomb in his bag at Shanghai Railway Station yesterday after taking methamphetamine, Xinmin.cn reported.
The man, surnamed Xiong, 34, claimed there was a bomb in his bag at about 7:19pm yesterday. Police were patrolling the station's South Square when they heard Xiong shouting "Bomb!" Police stopped him and people nearby were quickly evacuated, the report said.
They caught him and evacuated the area immediately.
Police covered the bag with a explosion-proof blanket.
Explosive experts rushed to the scene, examined the bag and found there was no bomb, the report said.
After a preliminary investigation, police found Xiong was hallucinating because he had taken methamphetamine, the website said.
Police said they are still investigating the incident.
