THE Shanghai Call Center, 962288, yesterday opened a new multi-language service, providing 24-hour backup for 1,100 local volunteer service sites at busy businesses, transport hubs and tourism places during World Expo.

Up to 13,000 volunteers based at the sites can refer to the service, which offers more than 10 foreign languages, when overseas visitors need help or information during the Expo.

Also, a special cell phone SIM card which can connect to the hotline service for free was issued yesterday.
