Henan grabs spotlight
THE Henan Culture Week begins today and gives an introduction to China's most populated province.
The event themed "Midland's Taste and a Charming Henan" will begin at Baosteel Stage in the Expo Park at 10am, said Li Qingshu, head of Henan's commerce department.
The five-day event will show visitors a colorful Henan with a long history and countless achievements through activities that include stage performances, folk arts, intangible cultural heritage and parades.
Some Henan artists will be on hand to display their talent at the Life & Sunshine Pavilion.
Henan performers will stage variety shows today through Friday at Celebration Square while monks from Shaolin Temple are expected to display their legendary martial arts together with other folk shows at Baosteel Stage everyday at 4:30pm.
The Henan Pavilion has attracted nearly 1.5 million visitors since its opened.
