Hey brother, your sister's a winner too!
LADY Luck smiled twice on a family from Chongming Island yesterday.
Yang Ming, 36, became the 300,000th visitor to the Taiwan Pavilion and won two free round-trip flight tickets worth 11,000 yuan (US$1,623) to the island.
Just minutes later, his sister won a mobile phone worth 4,000 yuan in a lucky draw.
Yang was visiting the Expo with his parents, his girlfriend, his sister and her husband and son.
He planned to take his girlfriend on the trip to Taiwan before the end of the year.
The prizes offered by the pavilion were to thank visitors who had long waits in line in the sunshine to visit the pavilion, said Wang Chih Kang, Chairman of the Taipei World Trade Center, the organization responsible for Taiwan Pavilion.
The pavilion expected to attract a total of 750,000 visitors by the end of the Expo.
The pavilion distributes 2,000 reservation tickets at 9:30am and another 2,000 at 4:30pm at the pavilion entrance every day. Initially it had allocated 3,000 tickets at 9:30am and another 1,000 at 6pm.
The pavilion moved forward the afternoon time because many visitors had started to queue for tickets from noon, Wang said.
But now visitors are starting to queue at 10am so Wang said the pavilion would try to find some new methods to avoid visitors having to wait too long.
He said the pavilion had no plans to increase its 4,000-people daily capacity to ensure "the best experience" for every visitor.
